Hallway Slideshow

We’ve removed the old bookcase, stripped the old wallpaper (which took a few days), patched the plaster and repainted the hallway. For now we’re going with a high gloss black for the doors and trim and Charleston Gray for the walls. We bought the paint from Farrow & Ball. The high gloss caused problems and so did the price (ouch!) Word to the wise, get paint samples if you see something you like then have it mixed somewhere else.

We’re debating on wallpapering the walls here in the future, adding a chandelier and possibly a pedestal table. Haven’t had luck finding a square rug we can agree on but we’re keeping our eyes out. The wall clock is an old family heirloom.

Which Wallpaper?

Now that the living room is pretty much done, we’ve started thinking about wallpaper. Rachel has been mildly obsessed with wallpaper recently and has been doing lots of research. Some of our favorites so far are: Schumacher, Cole & Son, Timorous Beasties and Trustworth. (Trustworth has some awesome reproductions, but they might be a bit too much for us—haven’t decided though.)

Yesterday we went by Walnut here in Los Angeles and looked at several samples. Leslie was nice enough to let us borrow some sample books to bring home and check out. So many to choose from! We’re actually considering wallpapering quite a few rooms: the living room, dining room, center hall and Rachel’s office. We’ll keep you posted. Anyone else have favorite wallpaper sources?
