Foundation, 2 Months Later

Well, today marks month two of the foundation work. As I expected, the job is taking longer than promised. What I wasn’t expecting? The Sinai Construction workers have taken to urinating on my property. Nice.

First I noticed they were urinating behind the garage, I let it slide the first time. The second time, I actually saw them do it and I said something. I told them, as nice as I could, “If you refuse to use the Porto-Potty in the front yard, just let me know. You guys are welcome to use the one in the house.”

Their response? Today I noticed someone from the Sinai Construction crew is now urinating against the wall in the cellar. A fitting two month christening I’m afraid. Please, tell me this will end soon.

Before the Pour

The foundation guys are prepping to pour the cement in the alley on the side of the house today. Thank god I’ve been taking so many pictures along the way and caught what they were doing before they poured the cement! I was able to show them how it was before they tore it up.

They were going to fill the whole thing with cement, from wall to house, and we wanted space to plant things on both sides of the walk way. These are the moments that instill constant paranoia—critical decisions being made without consultation.

Birth of a Ditch, Death of a Tree?

I had another one of those panic feelings and thought I’d better check on the Sinai Construction guys. I discovered they cut through some major roots in two of the trees in the front yard while digging a drainage ditch for the new alley drain. They didn’t think it was worth mentioning, what’s new?

I’m pretty sure the younger tree is a goner, but I’m hoping the 20+ year old Sweetgum tree will make it. The ditch runs all the way to the street through the front yard.

What’s next? Wait, don’t answer that.
